Putting Myself Out There

California Trip...
Last year for an In- Tern week one of the advisor's at Yampah Mountain High School planned a trip to go to Southern California. When I heard about that I was like I so want to go, I remember going back home that night and I started looking for work, trying to do anything to earn money to go. I mean to tell you the truth I worked my ass off to go to California. Believe it or not I got the money and I was able to go to California, I honestly don't think that I have ever been so exited to go somewhere but I was. Please believe me it was worth going.
Everyone that were going to California met in Rifle at the Mc. Donalds so early like at 5:00am. I think the funniest thing about going to California was we took the school bus from Yampah, those who haven't seen the buses at the school, its a "Short Bus." We drove for a long time, most of everyone were sleeping on our way there. While we were sleeping Marta the secretary for our school, and Rick were taking turns driving. By the time we got to Utah everyone started to wake up, it was a little boring because we were sitting on the bus for so long. We took brakes now and then to stop and use the bathrooms, get gas, and get some snacks. Once we got to Vegas not a lot but some people when they would pass us on the highway they would hunk there horn, and even take photos. It was embarrassing to be at Vegas in a short bus, I mean "Vegas" like seriously. When we arrived at California we stopped and went to a restaurant, after we were done eating we drove to Ricks families house at Orange County "Mike, and Laura. When we got there it was like 11pm. After we got situated we took the time to introduce each other, Ricks family was so nice, they treated us like a mom and a dad. In the morning when we woke up breakfast would be ready, when we got back at the house dinner would be ready, and no lie, they made so much food it was unbelievably good. I don't remember what days we did what, but I'll tell you everything we did. Before I start I should say that it was raining everyday like crazy, it was so bad they had flash flood storms everywhere on the television, I guess that was because it was their winter at that time. Anyways we went to Santa Monica Beach, it was so beautiful once we got out of the bus we ran all the way to the beach until we touched the water. It was raining that day so we didn't think that we would be going swimming, but we didn't care and we went anyways in our clothes. It was so much fun like my friends and I would go as far at as we could and just jump in the gigantic waves and let it take us away. It was scary at first because it would take you out way further, but after a while of doing that it got fun. One of the funnest things that we did when we were there was we went down town Hollywood, like we did everything. We walked on the stars we went to excuse my language but some bad ass stores to go shopping. I remember this guy coming up to me and asking me "if I would like to go on a ride in a hummer Lemo." "I was like hell yeah". So I went and told rick about it and he said "yes we can." So everyone got in and we went all the way to Beverly Hills in the Lemo, ans seen Celebrity, and Actress, and Actors mansions. The coolest thing was that we got out of the lemo and walked on Micheal Jackson's driveway. I mean when when we looked through his gate it had like elephants, fake zoo animal statues. One of the sweetest thing we did there was we went to this place called "The Union Rescue Mission" and served food to the homeless people. There were so many people there my guess would be like 800 people. We had also went to another place a different day and handed out clothes to more homeless people. It was cool because they provided shelter for them, helped them get an education and get a job, and just helped them in many ways. We went to the mall and that was pretty exiting to all of the girls because we were going to go shopping. Let me just tell you "I have never been in a mall like that before I mean it was gigantic." After we were done shopping we decided to see a movie in the mall. Different people went and watched the movies they wanted, and I watched the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks." It was an adorable movie. We also went to Venice Beach, I think I has more fun there though. That time it was raining all that much so we all ended up bring our bathing suits. By the time we started swimming the waves were going up so high and we didn't care and we just jumped in them. Not everyone went swimming because they were a little bit scared. About twenty minutes later a life guard came and told us "we have to get at out of the water because the waves were getting to dangerous." When we go out of the water we all decided to go walking on the board walk which was pretty cool, they had many amazing stores and nice people. The biggest reason why I wanted to go to California was because we got tickets to the "Magic Mountain." They closed the rides and everything because it was bad weather. Another cool thing that we did was we went to the museum of Tolerance which was about the Holocaust. It gave a lot of information about the Holocaust about many things that went on. They had a fake gas chamber which was a little freaky. The only thing that sucked was that we couldn't take pictures of anything, and the people there were really strict. We went to the Mexican market, which was a bunch of different stores to go shopping in, it was pretty cool. There were a lot of stores that had cool things there to buy.

Backpacking Trip at the Arches in Utah...

The Advisor Susie took a group of students to the Arches Canyon Lands in Utah. I have never been backpacking before in my entire life so I was like "I'll try this out," so I did. We packed our backpacks with everything that we were going to need, like food, clothes, camping things, and etc. I carried so many things in my bag it kinda sucked. On Friday morning I remember Susie coming to pick me and another person up at the gofer foods in Silt. After Silt we went to Rifle and picked up more people and from there we drove all the way to Utah. When we got there we had our lunch and then went into this building where this guide told us information about where we would be hiking. After we were done listening to her talking we got back on the bus and drove to our destination. When we got there we put our backpacks on and started our hike. I thought that I would be at the end of the group walking because I was a smoker, but I actually surprised myself and I was the one that was ahead of the group all the way until we got to our camping spot. It seemed to me that we were walking about 10 miles all the way to where we would be camping, but it was around  7 miles there. Once we got to our camp ground place we sat up our tents and etc. After that we had to go walking about a mile to get water. It was cool when we got water because we had to filter it out to make sure it was clean, and the water taste so good. After we got all sat up we started cooking our meal for the night, some of us left camp and went up in the mountains behind where we were camping to explore. It was fun, we had done a lot of hiking, and etc. It was a little funny because sometimes when we were hiking we would follow trails and get ourselves lost. It was a little bit scary because we would have to find our own way back. On the last day we went on the biggest hike that we have ever done since when we first got their. It was so extreme that I thought that I was  going to stop and let the group go on without me but I pushed myself to do it. By the time I got to the top of the hill I was to tired to look at the view so I just sat down and had to catch my breath. The most horrible part about the trip I would half to say was if you had to use the bathroom you would half to go dig a whole and go in whole, and put the toilet paper in a zip lock bag and carry it around with you. Although the trip was a little extreme all of us had a lot of fun. If Susie thinks about going on another hiking trip I'm not sure if i would do it again.

All of theses photos we hiked up most of everything your viewing!!!!

Food Art...

Picture
We went to Louie and his wife's house and they showed us many things about cooking. They showed us the proper way how to hold a knife when your cutting things. They also showed us how to make art out of using lime, and orange pilling and turning them into flowers. Also by using cutting a green bell pepper on the edges and making the edges looking like a palm tree then at the bottom cutting a pine apple for the tree branch. We learned how to make a Tai food diner which was really good. We used many different things making it. We even learned how to make different sauces to put on it.

Drawing at the school...

Picture
The art teacher at Yampah 'Gerry' told us to draw and color a picture for whatever comes to your mind. This is the picture that I drew because this is what came to mind.

Glass Blowing...

Picture
We went to a mans house and they showed us how to do glass blowing. It was pretty amazing to watch them make it. This picture is a glass that they had made there selves.
